Getting Kitty Ready to Roll
Due to the previous 30,000+ road trip miles I’ve put on Kitty over the last two years, it was time to get her some new tires for the C2C journey! I ordered her a new set of 205/40R16 Kumho tires, and will begin the process of getting her ready for the big trip.
I’m hoping to find a 1.8 engine harness, as well as an OBD1 harness to be able to completely rewire her so she doesn’t have any hiccups on the trip.

New tires be but one of the thousand or so paper cuts her Shabbiness shall make me endure by the time she’s ready to roll. Knowing dick about tires, I can only speculate that the ones I’ll need (70/R13, or some such shit) may run me a bit cheaper than Kity’s fanciful rubbers.
Am I commiserating or bragging? In the world of Mk1s, is there even a difference?
My tires weren’t that expensive really. Tirerack.com has some great deals. They are just a little difficult to purchase from any local tire business, since they are a rare size (especially for this area), so they had to be ordered from the internets.
And no… in the MK1 world, it’s all bragging.
just take 6 foot of cable in every available colour with you and some connectors…
I don’t think that would be smart to plan on just replacing wires on the road at this point.
i am getting more and more exited the close we come to the departure!!
lucky what´s up with your wireing??
got everythng you need??
and more updates please!
small question how far would it be extra if i wanted to drive to mount rushmore on the way? i can not really compare the distance on google, any experiences?
i am soooo stoked 12 day before the trip
thank you lucky for inklouding me and my car in the roadtrippers area
